Marksworx MiniFoundry & Furnace

Continuing on with the first furnace build I had by now realized I made some errors...mostly by reading sites like this! But I am determined to at least try it out.

the first furnace showing gimble

This photo shows how the furnace is laid out. The propane bottle is stored as far away as the hose will allow. The blower (not shown, but I use a Craftsman ShopVac/Blower...blows up a storm) is stationed on the right side of the fireplace and hooks to the moya oil burner. The propane valve is at the end of the weed burner tubing about 3 feet back from the furnace. The waste oil comes from a reservoir tank I made from an oil 2.5 gallon plastic jug and use translucent 3/8 inch plastic tubing which is attached to a 1/4NPT brass valve which is wangled to a section of steel brakeline down the Moya burner for oil delivery...but more on that in a bit...

waste oil tank counterweights for the top

The next photo is showing how technical the counterweights are mounted...two cable clips!! And that is one of my little piles of used range material in its first stage of reclamation.

first furnace with dry rack I'm including this photo to show the first "ultra-rebar' and drying rack contraption...this was prior to the welded 2 inch angle iron frame..it didn't work so well and the counterweights were barely enough making it harder to move up and down. Did I mention that when you suspend your lid on chains, on a pulley system that it will swing and rotate and generally Not want to go back exactly where you want it to. Another reason for the hand/foot operated lift I will biuild in at a later date!!

first bags of cantonium And if you have ever wanted to try this you will probably have a common sight like this...bags of soda cans or other adult beverages. I even recycle the aluminum cat food tins....I just can not have too much dross (furnace humor) but maybe it buys some credibility to the whole Green aspect!!
